How do I RP on a Message Board?
The primary role-playing at Faileas is conducted on our RP forum. This is where RP topics are created and executed. To each roleplay, there are two topics. One is a 'control', and the second, a 'variable.
In the control topic, you plot out what will be done in the variable topic. This is the place to scheme and talk amongst other members. This doesn't mean every factor of the RP is orchestrated; it's just a place to share ideas!
The variable topic is where the actual roleplaying is done.
It is important to clearly state both the title of your roleplay and whether or not it is a 'control' or 'variable' topic when you post it. For example, if I wanted to begin a roleplay, I would post two topics on the appropriate forum as follows:
'Name of roleplay' (VARIABLE)
'Name of roleplay' (CONTROL)
In the control topic, state your idea for your roleplay and give the gist of what you want to happen in the Variable. Members will respond to denote their involvement if they chose to participate, and you can brain-storm on ideas from there.
RECAP:
Every roleplay on an RP forum has a 'control' and 'variable' topic. Because we don't want OOC chatter in our roleplays, and because we may have questions about the roleplay and what's happening in it, the 'control' topic exists for the SOLE PURPOSE of exchanging ideas and questions regarding content in the 'variable' topic, which is the actual RP.
WHEN STARTING A ROLEPLAY:
Please state the date the RP occurs in your 'control' topic.
WHEN A ROLEPLAY HAS BEEN COMPLETED:
Please specifiy that the last post you make in the variable topic is your 'closing post'
Please provide a summery in your 'control' topic that I may place in the 'Timeline' topic
(( The 'Timeline' Topic is found on the Faileas: Current RPG forum ))
