Name: Alastair Arawn
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Age: April 12, 1977 / 29
Position in School: School Psychiatrist
Appearance: Alastair is above average height at six foot five, weighing in at 268 pounds. He tends to be meticulous about his appearance, jogging in the mornings before work and going to the gym to lift weights, keeping his body well toned, and trained. Alastair has bright green eyes and shoulder length yellow-blonde hair, cut at various lengths with a razor blade, giving it that pokey feel. He tends to wear dark slacks, a white button up shirt with ties of various colors and a white lab coat to work, while his home attire is much more casual: a pair of torn and tattered, well wornjeans with either an old t-shirt or a wife-beater.
Alastair has several scars and marks littering his body, the most noticeable being a large brand on his left shoulder blade in the shape of a star with the word 'LABRAT' tattooed over in black in and Old English letters; forever a sign of his alliance with the motorcycle gang back home. He has various other cuts and scars from fights and accidents, but the most severe is a long scar running across the side of his head, hidden mostly by hair. The blonde was side swiped by a car on his motorcycle down the interstate and shattered part of his skull despite the helmet he had been wearing. The destroyed bone was replaced with a hardened plastic cast fit to the size of the gap and today the man is fine, though he occasionally suffers from migraine headaches.
Personality: Alastair has a sort of mixed personality- acting professional on the outside, to those who do not know the man. However, once he begins to get close to people, he opens up and can be rather inappropriate, often sharing a smoke or a drink with students or taking them out for a ride on his motorcycle, which is still the love of his life. When in private, although the man can be sweet and loving to his boyfriend, he is, for the most part, rather loud and rambunctious, enjoying a good party more to sitting at home and reading a book.
Alastair is also a bit of a sexual fiend, having slept with more people than he can count and hardly every with the same person twice. Although he has settled down from his wild streak, he often finds it hard to control his compulsions to sleep with random people, despite the fact he knows it would hurt his current lover. That is also one thing he had never had.. a steady boyfriend. He is still a rather compulsive person, releasing his sexual tensions and perversions in private. He has a rather deviant sexual personality, though he is now very good at controlling himself, since Quin, his lifepartner, would severely injure him. Quin is normally the only one who can bring Alastair back down to earth, especially after a large amount of liquor.
Alastair is not a believer of mysticism, or folklore. He is not susceptible to superstition.
Likes: His boyfriend, Quin ( heremon); Alastair is increasingly fond of cigarettes and alcohol, being an avid user of both. Alastair smokes at least a pack a day and is a frequent drinking of alcohol, mostly beer, and keeps a rather large stash inside his apartment. Alastair also enjoys his motorcycle, which he rides to and from school as well as around the city itself. His old motorcycle habits never leave him, often speeding down the streets but hardly ever getting caught.
Also likes cooking.
Dislikes: Rich, snotty rich kids. Alastair was born into money, and attended private schools his whole life. He also dislikes people who refuse to get dirty, to fess up to their deeds and those that are afraid of a fight or a challenge. Cowards disgust him and those who refuse to stand up to their parents, who are resigned to being subservient.
Magic Capabilities: Ironically, while Alastair refuses to believe in magic, he himself does have a gift- for healing, although not in the magical sense. He has a knack for it, and for finding out what is wrong with someone out of gut instinct and some examination. Although he is now in the psychological field (having gone through many psychology courses in his school days), he used to be a medical doctor, working in a hospital with patients. While there is currently a doctor situated in Esras, Al applied for the psychological position. He doesn’t realize that he has this special gift, only uses it without knowing it.
Personal and Family History: Alastair was born in upstate New York to the Arawns. His father was a retired, high-ranking military officer of the Marines, his mother having inherited her father’s oil business. Alastair had an older brother, Percival. Al grew up rich, attending private prep schools his whole life. He learned to cook by sneaking into the kitchens to watch their personal chef prepare dinners, occasionally joining him in learning to prepare meals when he was old enough to actually see over the counter.
Around Alastair’s neighborhood were other rich kids, around his same age. They were all rather discontent with their family situations, and decided to rebel against their parents and the bourgoise society they were surrounded by, using their wealth to buy motorcycles and start a gang. Art, Sparks, Clarion and Alastair were the ringleaders, with Clarion being the head of the gang and Alastair the second in command. Clarion’s parents owned property on Staten Island, so the friends moved their base of operations there, wreaking havok in the city, eventually accumulating a large number of members and a warehouse base on the dock.
This continued through most of Alastair’s teenage life, still attending prep school, but sinking rapidly into the world of gangs, drugs, sex, alcohol and violence. Strangely, Alastair managed to keep his grades up, due to his love of knowledge. He continued his double life- prep school boy by day, bike gang member by night.
Alastair’s father, irritated by his son’s disappearance from family functions and lack of initiative, forced the teenager into a hard choice. He would disown him if he did not go to college for either law or medicine, or join the armed forces like his elder brother Percy had. Alastair chose medicine, attended NYU for pre-med, still continuing his drug and sex addiction even through his final years at the university. Clarion, his best friend, also attended NYU with him, to keep him company.
After NYU, he was accepted to John Hopkins due to his strange extraordinary knack for medicine. To keep himself awake and alive during his final years in university, he developed an addiction to cocaine; as did a good number of the students, to keep themselves awake during the long days and lack of sleep. Al was under much pressure during his residency, working insanely long hours, sometimes days in a row on call, forced to sleep at the hospital.
Then, the day before his graduation, Alastair and his friends decided to go out for a night on the town, drinking and living it up. Al made the stupid decision of getting on his motorcycle after having a few drinks, and on his way back to Clarion’s home in Staten Island from Manhatten, he was side-swiped by a vehicle, knocking him off his bike at violently high speeds, breaking his skull despite his helmet and sending him into a coma for three months. After worrying and anticipating, Alastair’s parents finally decided they needed to put a restraint on him, his father commanding Al that if he did not give up his motorcycle riding, he would disown him. Alastair made his choice, refusing to give up his riding and moving to Japan, where his brother was stationed with his wife. He had always heard about the nation from his brother, even taking classes to learn Japanese, hoping with his medical knowledge and his fluency in English to get a job in Japan in medicine.
And so he packed up and moved to Japan, now cut from his family’s money and on his own. He moved into a small apartment and began job searching. He did not want the hectic life of a doctor, and thus chose to become the school nurse for an international boys school in Tokyo, Rozen Kruez. After taking the post, he met and fell in love with one of the professors there, the music teacher, Quin. Alastair was happy for once in his life, living together with his lover and working medicine at the all-boy’s school. Since almost the start of the semester, Alastair had been working one on one with one of the students at the school, a disgruntled teenager who had been repeatedly trying to commit suicide. He lost the boy close to the end of the school year, and the trauma of having the boy commit suicide despite all his efforts to help led him back to school, to further his knowledge of behavior and therapy that the classes he took in university, expanding on his double major of premed and psychology.
Quin began to grow homesick, missing his mother and father who resided an hour out of Dublin. After frequent visits, Alastair decided to relocate the pair out of Japan and back to Ireland, so Quin could be closer to his family. Due to his mother’s kindness and his father’s relenting, Alastair was reconnected to the family funds, but the active man couldn’t deal with a life where he did not work, and thus looked for schools to apply to as either a nurse or a therapist, which led him to Esras.
