Appearance: Brendon's hair is mid back length, normally held back into a pony-tail, but sometimes lose about his face. It has a destinct wave to it, set into a rich, dark brown color, with lighter streads of a midtone brown flecked about. He has large, equally brown, eyes, often curious. His skin is very pale, like it had never seen an ounce of light, only that of the moon. He is of an average height, around 5'8", and although very lithe, he is either too thin nor
large. He has slight definition in his muscles due to his love of swimming, though he cannot venture into deep water. He has a large scar running sideways the length of his back where he was cut with the propellor blade.
Due to this injury, although a few years healed, he finds it hard to swim in deep water or for longer periods of time. He also has a hard time running due to the same injury, though leisurly walking doesn't hurt him anymore.
Personality: Brendon is torn. His love of the sea, to return to his seal form and swim with his old friends, or to live on land with his new friends, his education.. Although he stives to find a cure, a doctor who could heal his back, allow him to swim and be free once more into the cold expanses of the ocean and his selkie home, he does so only half heartedly, becoming attached to the world of land, music, dancing, and the way of live he's lived for several years. Brendon is a very quiet fellow most of the time, a sad soul, lost within his own thoughts. He often falls into a profound silences and often won't return for hours. He can be, at times, mischevious and curious, often poking his nose into things better left undisturbed. He can smile, but his genuine smile is something he reserves for only true friends and the love of his life, the ocean. He sometimes gets into strange moods, where he becomes rather frantic or frisky. Those are few and far between.. mostly during full moons and more frequently in springtime.
Likes: Brendon is very very fond of fish, his most recent desire for fish being sushi, as he loves the taste of it raw. He also enjoys water, of any kind, and drinks more than his fair share, often avoiding carbonated drinks and things that are too sweet, much prefering salty foods to sweet ones. Brendon also enjoys watching cartoon and sitting in water, whether out in a puddle during a rainstorm, at the coast of the ocean, or in the fountain in front of the school.
Dislikes: Brendon despises sealers. With the passion of a thousand burning suns. The sight of a dead seal or seal skin will make him weep, or rage in anger, depending upon his previous mood or the brutality of the crime. He also dislikes things kept as pets inside cages or fish in tanks, the sight of it causing him to despair.
Magic Capabilities: Although Brendon has no outright magical powers, he has an affinity and connection to things of the water element, specifically the ocean, subconciously able to tame or control the element. As a selkie, he also has the power to change himself from human to seal by donning his sealskin.
Personal and Family History: Brendon lived in the sea, as a selkie with his clan, for close to 14 years. They would swim, come ashore, sometimes wander into town as humans before flinging themselves back into the sea. He does not specifically know who his mother and father are, as he was raised by a clan..
Just prior to his 15th birthday, a group of male selkies had swam to a sealer boat, hoping to sink it, in the middle of a storm. During this journey, Brendon was run over by a motorboat hauling in a fishing net, the blades shearing across his back, injuring his muscles and almost severing his spinal cord.
He washed ashore, still in seal form. Alive, but bleeding and weak, he removed his seal skin and turned human, knowing full well a human hospital would care for him better. He became a ward of the state for two years until he was able to work. He went to school, leaning mathematics, english and the art of being human. Brendon has an aptitude for knowledge and learned at a phenomenal pace. He continued his job at a small used bookstore as he grew
and started attending Esras University.
