Name: Maeve O'Scolaidhe
Age: Twenty
Species: Human
Class: Sophomore
Appearance:
Maeve is a very beautiful girl, and has capitalized on this fact throughout the more recent years in her life. A model by trade, she always looks impeccable. (Save for waking up and the rare occasions that her brother thwarts her). Long red hair is straightened daily, to avoid the mess look that her natural wave tends to cause. She has deep green eyes, similar in their striking quality to her twin's, though perhaps that is the one area of beauty she is beat in. A soft spray of freckles covers her nose and cheeks that she regularly hides with make-up unless it benefits her to leave it showing.
Her body is something to be envied by most women. It has the tone and curvatures of an athlete without the scars from sports or the unnecessary musculature that many get. She keeps herself in shape by routinely exercising, running being her number one activity. She prefers outdoors through the nice rolling hills, feeling the gentle Irish breezes, but settles for treadmills so that she may keep her blind brother company. On top of a strict regimen of exercise, Maeve adheres to the most particular of diets. She eats exactly what keeps her healthy but keeps the fat away. She'd sometimes prefer to just eat less, but her her traditional Irish family forbids it.
At any time, Maeve can be found in only the most stylish of clothing. Perfectly fitting outfits by Gucci, Calvin Klein, and any of the other companies she represents adorn her form flatteringly. Even in bed she wears matching sleep sets that must look "good."
Personality:
Like her brother, Maeve is fiery and refuses to let things slide by. This is about the extent of their shared traits though. Maeve is often temperamental, never having found anyone who could take her on and put her in her place. She's hot-headed and stubborn, and will not back down in a fight. (And a lot of times not back down even after she's proven wrong). While she won't go so far as to pick fights, as that's far too much effort, she certainly won't back away tactfully. No, she'll fight with all the grace of a murderous tigress.
A woman in control, Maeve has no problems getting things done. She never procrastinates, and rarely underachieves, as she's fully aware of her strengths and weaknesses. Woe to the one who tries to point out any of the latter of course, but regardless. She does well enough in school, averaging A's and B's, with the occasional C for flavor. She's terrible with things like Philosophy and English due to her lack of desire for thinking outside her own little box, so that's usually where she suffers.
On the note of suffering, that is something Maeve does not do well. She does not take kindly to having the things she deserves taken away, nor does she take kindly to the unnecessary suffering of those she loves. Ninian is her best friend, and her twin at that. There is no wrath worse than that given to those who hurt him. And occasionally than the wrath he earns, since he knows just how to push her buttons.
Some people would describe her as shallow, and while this is true to a degree, it's no so bad as people would think. While she'll inform you that you look dowdy or drab, or just plain bad, she'll also take the time to dress you right and take you out shopping with the money she's earned from shoots. What's better than to make people look good? She feels that to feel good you have to like yourself, both inside and out. The first step to that is to be able to look in the mirror and love what you see.
Likes: dressing up, gentlemen, dates, sciences, shopping, talking in twinspeak with Ninian, winning at... everything, feeling pretty, mirrors, new shoes, a good day of exercise, photography
Dislikes: coffee, strong perfumes, macho guys, frumpy girls, whiners, people who want pity, her brother's illness, spilling things on her clothes, rain, cheap things, mismatched outfits
Magical Capabilities:
Unless you count extreme skill with a make-up brush, no. She possesses none.
History:
Maeve was born on June 11th, 1985, along with her twin brother Ninian. He was the older by four minutes, signaling the birth of the pair of Gemini for Shawn and Bedelia O'Scolaidhe. Unlike her brother, she was lucky to be born with no defects, and over her lifetime has yet to incur any.
Growing up was fairly average, save for having a twin to battle constantly. At first their rivalry was out of control, resulting in fights, tears shed, and bitter make-ups. This all changed by their fifth birthday, when it was soon after found that Ninian had been going blind for some time. Having to grow up quickly to better her brother, Maeve became his protector. Throughout school and life she made sure to keep an eye out for him, both in the literal and figurative sense of the word.
By the time High School rolled around, Maeve had established herself as a very independent girl. Her beauty and personality alike had won her many a local pageant, and even caught the eyes of several Dublin modeling agencies. Before she was even fourteen, she was on the cover of CosmoGirl, and from there on out it was an upwards spiral in her career. By the time she was eighteen, the girl had amassed enough money to blow at her will and even cover college. This was a great relief as so much of her parents savings had gone to help her brother with failed corrective surgeries.
For the first year of college, she went to one near home. Ninian was miserable being stuck at home taking distance classes and their mother refused to let him leave the house regularly. Bedelia's protectiveness was almost out of control by halfway through the twins' first year schooling in college. However, by the grace of God, Shawn and his children were able to convince Bedelia to reconsider. Maeve was willing to go to a school in Ireland and whatever her brother needed she would uphold. Regardless of fights, she loved the boy like she loved herself. They were connected, in the way only twins can be. The pair was able to attend Esras University, a college mentioned once by a model friend of hers, Aubrey. It was small and manageable for Ninian, but offered enough selection of classes and activities that both of them could be happy. And so Maeve rescued her brother and brought him to Esras.
